If you thought how long will it take to move out to other cities, the news is for you. In a calibrated manner domestic Indian flights shall resume from May 25 and all airports have been asked to be ready for operations. More clarity will come a day later.
The union minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri said that domestic civil aviation operations will recommence in a calibrated manner from 25 May.
Puri informed that all airports and air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations. Union Minister informed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for passenger movement are also being separately issued by the ministry. This means travel experience will change.
SOPs for passenger movement that is also being separately issued by Ministry will guide how passengers will get the opportunity to travel. COVID-19 had upended all aspects of life and brought the world to a standstill.
For the first time in history, 90% of the world’s population is at home and thinking about when will they get to travel next.
But the states will also play vital role and they need to allow domestic flights so that to and fro flight movement can be ensured. Puri said that the domestic flight operations in India will resume once the state governments are ready to open airports. The Centre alone can not make a decision in this regard.
Government of India today said that domestic flights and civil aviation operations will resume from 25 May in a calibrated manner. According to the minister, special operating procedures (SOPs) for passenger movement are being separately issued.
“Domestic civil aviation operations will recommence in a calibrated manner from 25 May. All airports & air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from 25 May. SOPs for passenger movement also being separately issued by Ministry,” tweeted Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
This announcement comes during the fourth phase of the lockdown which was imposed to combat the novel coronavirus outbreak in the country. Further clarification shall come on May 21 by the aviation ministry.
