The politics of ‘help’ has gained momentum during coronavirus pandemic and once again the Yogi government could not understand the stakes by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi. The situation is such that Congress that sent 1000 buses are not being used to ferry migrants have become tennis ball to move from one player to another.
Congress is dispatching letter after letters and the state government is taking them in a new manner each time. First the fitness certificate of the vehicles and then drivers details were asked for and then the buses had to be parked in Lucknow. Then came question upon 19 buses. The government said these are not buses but some other vehicles.
Now was the turn of social media that has emerged a new platform for political wars. The screen shots went viral and supporters from each side came to the fore to take on the rivals. Hence in this manner Congress had an edge in the government Vs opposition.
How much pressure has come upon the government can be understood with the fact that three ministers, consecutively had to speak up in press conferences to take on Congress leader on target. This is but not the first time that the government came under pressure due to Priyanka.
In 2019 the Sonebhadra incident where lives were lost had Priyanks moving towards Sonebhadra. Then it was a new thing by Priyanka in the active politics of the state. The government became active after she moved and stopped her in Mirzapur only.
But instead of returning back Priyanka sat on demonstration in the guest house. She remained on protest until she was allowed to meet the villagers. This was a uncomfortable situation for the state government. That was first such occasion where Congress, virtually in a moribund state, became active. This issue flared up and government had to take action.
Then again Priyanks came up with the CAA issue when some of the social workers got arrested while protesting. Priyanka went on roads to meet elderly human rights activist Darapuri and when she was stopped by cops she went on a scooter. The manner government tried to stop her the scooter ride became popular.
Congress that has been criticized for long over closed door politics has been brought to roads by Priyanka and her social media team has also become strong. And this is reflected in the social media platforms.
Samajwadi Party leader Yogesh Yadav observed it in a different manner. He believes the BJP and Yogi government deliberately gives importance to Priyanka as it knows the fight on the ground will be with the Samajwadi Party but by focusing upon Priyanka the government wants to create confusion so that it can appear BJP Vs. Congress.
This is also correct that the government does not responds to statements by Akhilesh Yadav in the manner it gives reactions to Priyanka but this is also true that in the past three years it was only once that SP leader had tried to go to the house of Makhi victim and was stopped, in the three years.
In one year Priyanka has taken on the Yogi government thrice and each time senior ministers had to come from the side of the government. The bus politics is at its peak at present and this is when the labours are stuck on the roads between districts.
Both the parties are saying they do not want politics over sensitive issue but does any of their answers or steps appear non-political ? The debate over coronavirus and situation of labours is on the backburner for now and political war is at its peak.
