The National Human Rights Commission has sought further clarification from the Police Commissioner Lucknow in the complaint presented by Dr Nutan Thakur as regards her husband Amitabh Thakur.
In her complaint, Nutan had said that her husband was illegally and arbitrarily taken away by Lucknow Police from their house and was being tortured and ill-treated in District Jail Lucknow.
To this, the Lucknow Police had replied by saying that Amitabh had been arrested only as per the provisions of law and no illegality had been committed in the process. They had also refuted the allegations of ill treatment being given in Jail.
Disagreeing with this reply, Nutan had presented large number of facts and evidences to establish that many provisions of law had been blatantly violated in her husband’s arrest and he was actually being tortured and ill treated in District Jail.
Now, the Commission has asked the Police Commissioner to submit further additional report in the light of Nutan’s comments within six weeks positively.
