DD-AIR XI and Accredited Journalist XI started with victory

Lucknow .  With a sparkling century by man-of-the-match Sudhir Awasthi (100 runs), former champions DD-AIR XI defeated defending champions Dainik Jagran by 53 runs in the first match of the 3rd Lucknow Media Premier League (LMPL)-2024 for the SBI Cup here today.

In the second match of the day in the league organized under the aegis of Lucknow Sports Journalists Association (LSJA), Accredited Journalists XI defeated Amar Ujala by seven wickets.

The league being played at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium was inaugurated by Arun Kumar Sahu, General Manager (Network-1), State bank of India, Lucknow Circle. Former India cricketer Gyanendra Pandey and Insalox Company’s MD, Sudhanshu Srivastava were also present on this occasion.

In the first match, DDAIR XI scored 2/194 while batting first after winning the toss. the team even after losing opener Bhole Ram (5early in the game, posted a huge total on the board with Awasthi hitting an unbeaten 100 in 57 balls with the help of 125 fours. He along with CS Azad (69, 54b, 10×4) added 175 runs for the second wicket.

In reply, Dainik Jagran could score only 4/141. Prahlad Singh (49, 35b, 5×4) scored the most runs. Whereas Ankur Dixit contributed 26 runs. Jitendra Kumar took two wickets for DD-AIR XI.

In the second match, Accredited Journalist XI defeated Amar Ujala by seven wickets. Batting first, Amar Ujala scored 6/100 in 15 overs. Opener Mayank Dixit scored 29 runs, Rajeev Anand scored 26 runs, whereas Ghanshyam scored an unbeaten 20.

Ankit Bharti from the Accredited Journalist XI took two wickets. In reply, Accredited Journalists XI won the match by scoring 3/101 in 12.3 overs. Nandan Srivastava (32) and Raghavendra Pandey (15*) put the side home.

On the second day of the event tomorrow, first match will be played between Times of India vs Hindustan Times from 9.00 am and the second match will be played between LSJA XI vs Electronic Media XI from 12:30 pm.
