Hundreds of crores of rupees have been spent so far on the unrestrainedness and cleanliness of Kshipra of Madhya Pradesh, but the river has not cleaned, mainly due to lack of government’s intention and participation of society. There is a widespread need for teaching people about water literacy in the 21st century to curb the growing impact of the water crisis.
The Kshipra water fraternity was formed under the leadership of water man Rajendra Singh in the context of the plans and efforts to reduce the pollution of the river Kshipra and the pollution of the Khan river in it, including all the people involved in the work for reviving Kshipra. and preparing the action plan. All of them will work from community level to administrative level to revive the river. Sanjay Singh of Paramarth Seva Sansthan will also join this water community.
Although the Minister of Public Works Department (PWD), Sajjan Singh Verma, about the Kshipra River, says that he made a lot of efforts in the last years, so that the Kshipra river flows and can be cleaned, but they failed. He admitted that he could not overcome the problem of pollution in the river Kshipra.
In order to make this Kshipra river flowing and pollution free, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan took the initiative to bring the Narmada River water from Barwah in Khargone district and immerse it in the pond of village Ujjaini, the origin of Kshipra near Indore and the first largest river in the state The Jodo scheme was launched with the hope that the first phase of the river link will be completed in 2014. At the same time, on the completion of the river link project, the noise of Narmada will be heard in 80 cities of the state.
Under this ambitious project, in the first phase, there was talk of releasing Narmada water in 4 rivers Kalisindh, Parvati, Kshipra and Gambhir. In this way, the state government gave in-principle approval for the plan to release 450 cubic meters, or 18 lakh liters per second, in the four rivers, due to the water of the 5 rivers being contained in each other.
The former Chief Minister had also promised irrigation of 18 lakh hectares, but today the government does not even have the exact figures of irrigation. However, this was the first such scheme, that failed. The former chief minister had planned to link 27 river in this way. Now the Kshipra-2 scheme is in progress. Recently, the situation of Kshipra had become such that Darshanarthi’s or Pilgrims could not even take a bath in the river, due to which the Collector, Commissioner was transferred.
Here, Chief Minister Kamal Nath started work towards furthering the Narmada-Parvati Sonamaksha and Bhilatdev scheme, but due to non-allocation of funds from the Center, this project is also didn’t got implemeded. The situation is, that even 5 thousand crores have not been released yet in a 50 thousand crore project.
He told the government that if we cannot clean the rivers, then we have no right to organise any program on the banks of any river. When the water of the rivers is neither worth drinking nor bathing, then the government should stop organising fairs like Kumbh. At the same time, Sanjay Singh, the national convener of Jal Jan Jodo Abhiyan, says that Jal Jan Jodo Abhiyan is active for making 101 rivers of the country including Kshipra clean. He said that human greed has taken away this avidity and cleanness from the rivers.
The condition of rivers in Madhya Pradesh is that the Barua River flowing in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, which originates from the Betwa River of Talbehat and joins the Jamni River. This river is about 16 km long. The first 12 dams that were built in it, were later broken by the sand mafias. Similarly, the Bhedi river flowing into Madhya Pradesh starts from Devpur in Chhatarpur and joins the Dhasan river in Tikamgarh. There is no water in this river it has dried up now due to sand mining. The river had Czech dames, which have been broken. It is proposed to construct new check dams. For now, water has been stopped by sacking.
