COVID cases continue to rise in India

India’s covid-19 tally reached 3463972 on Saturday morning with 76472 fresh cases in last 24-hours. This is the third consecutive day when over 70,000 cases have been recorded. Also, with as many as 1,021 deaths in the same period, the country’s death toll has reached 62,500.

As per the data by the health ministry, active cases stand at 752424. The cumulative tests for detection of have reached close to 4 crores in the country. India has tested more than 9 lakh samples for the second consecutive day, the health ministry said.

In all 2,648,998 have recovered while 62,713 have died of the virus. The recovery rate stands at 76.5% and death rate at 1.8%. India is reporting Daily Confirmed Cases 2506 Per Million Population.

Among leading states in the country that have contributed majority cases are Uttar Pradesh with over 2.12 lakh cases, Maharashtra over 7.4 lakh cases, Andhra Pradesh over 4.0 lakh and Tamil Nadu 4.09 lakh cases.

Uttar Pradesh after Maharashtra has seen a steep rise in cases since it had reported its first case on March 2 in Agra. In the month of June, July and August the rise became manifolds and now over 4000 fresh cases are being reported in the state everyday. The maximum load is from Lucknow that has reported over 25000 cases till now.

Uttar Pradesh has got several of its ministers testing positive for covid and the latest being Satish Mahana, cabinet minister for infrastructure and industrial development in Uttar Pradesh.
