COVID-19: UP crossed one lakh mark

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Tuesday crossed one lakh mark of COVID-19 cases while deaths stood at 1817 by the end of the day.

Till now 57271 patients recovered while 41222 are under treatment at hospitals and home isolation. There are 41,222 active coronavirus cases in the state and 57,271 people have recovered and discharged from hospitals, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said.

Till now 2689973 samples have been tested and the positivity rate in the state is 3.72. According to the statement, the maximum number of deaths in the past 24 hours was reported from Kanpur Nagar (8) followed by four each in Lucknow and Gorakhpur, and three each in Allahabad, Moradabad, Saharanpur and Azamgarh among others.
While the state reported a lower side of daily cases 2983, state capital recorded its highest in one day 611 fresh cases. The city has till now reported over 9000 cases.

Health officials said on the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the work for setting up at least one L-2 hospital each in all the districts of the state was on. Officials added that the network of COVID helpdesks set up in the state was proving to be very helpful in screening symptomatic people.

A major spurt in COVID-19 cases was seen in July when testing went up almost everyday. At present the state is conducting around 90000 tests per day and the average number of daily cases were around 4000.

The chief minister has directed officials to increase L-2 and L-3 level hospitals beds by 50000 at the earliest. It has also been decided to use 50% of the 108 and other hospital ambulances for COVID-19 patients. And the remaining for non-COVID-19 patients.
