India has recorded its steepest hike of over 54,900 COVID-19 cases, taking its tally to 1,639,350. The country’s death toll now stands at 35,786, which is more than Italy 35,132. IN all Italy reported 247,158 cases.
With 55,079 people testing positive for corona virus in a day, India’s COVID-19 tally over 16 lakh mark today, while the recoveries jumped to 10,57,805. The country’s death toll rose to 35,747 with 779 fatalities being recorded in a day.
The fatality from COVID-19 currently stands at 2.18% in India as compared to global average of about 4%. The key controbutors to the COVID-19 case tally are states such as Maharastra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh.
India has now become the epicenter of the global coronavirus pandemic. It ranks just behind the U.S. and Brazil in confirmed cases and is growing faster than either. It’s looking increasingly likely that India will wind up being the country with the most cases in the world.

The country has also announced guidelines for unlock 3. As per the fresh guidelines restrictions on movement of individuals during night (Night curfew) has been removed. Yoga institutes and gymnasiums will be allowed to open from August 5, but all precautions will be in place.
Schools and educational institutions will remain shut till the August 31, the union government said in the fresh guidelines. The night curfew has been scrapped and gyms and yoga institutes that are not in containment zones have been allowed to reopen in Unlock3 which is the third phase of lifting of coronavirus-related restrictions across country.
