Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government on Friday decided to close all schools up to class till March 22, as precautionary measure against spread of coronavirus. The government will review the situation and take further decision on March 20.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at a press conference said all schools, colleges, technical and vocational education institutes will remain closed till March 22. He said we will review the situation on March 22 and will take a decision whether to extend it or not.
Meanwhile some of the schools in Lucknow already declared they will remain closed for next few days. The GD Goenka school management announced they are closing the school till March 31 as precautionary measure and safeguard against coronavirus. The new session will begin from April 01.
Also the state health department has decided to quarantine passengers coming from seven countries China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Germany, Spain, and France for 14 days from today. The measure will come in to effect from 5.30 pm at all airports in the state.
The state now has 11 coronavirus positive patients with 7 in Agra, two in Gaziabad and one each in Lucknow and Noida. The quarantine will be for passengers who travelled from or have travel history on or after February 15, 5.30 pm onwards.
To help passengers stay health department has managed 1093 quarantine beds in different districts that have airports. On arrival the passport of the passengers will be checked for travel history.
Health department has already appealed passengers arriving from any foreign country to contact the helpline 18001805145 or the chief medical officer of the district they are staying.
