It is possible that today a potential coronavirus vaccine be trialled on human. The vaccine is being developed at the University of Oxford.
The government is focused at developing a coronavirus vaccine, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock told at the daily Downing Street briefing. He told that human trials for a vaccine, developed by the University of Oxford, would begin.
Well if this goes well then a million doses of their experimental coronavirus vaccine could be ready by September, the Oxford scientists believe. Vaccine is a hope for the mankind struggling hard with the coronavirus. The hope kindles across the globe as nations fight the coronavirus.
According to the scientists the vaccine will first be trialled upon healthy individuals and then in the next phase upon the other age group. Prof Pollard said then we will move on to test the vaccine in other age groups.
As per the plans the officials plan production of the vaccine at a large scale as the human trials begin. This means that the large scale production will be at a risk of vaccine going useless if the trials do not work as per expectations. But this for the mankind as unless large scale production is planned vaccine won’t be available for a large group soon.
World Health Organization and Britain’s chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance have said a safe vaccine is at least 12 to 18 months away.
Microsoft founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates had earlier this month issued an urgent call for world leaders to unite and start planning how vaccines will be manufactured and distributed. This is because once vaccine is found, it is estimated that billions of doses will be needed. There would be challenges for the nations to put together the effort of production and distribution of vaccine hence a collaboration plan is the need now.
