Coronavirus: Routine immunization stopped in Uttar Pradesh

Routine immunization given to children after birth and up to a certain years of age years has been postponed till April 4 in in Uttar Pradesh. The step has been taken to avoid gathering of people who come with children for vaccination.

Director general in the family welfare department Dr Badri Vishal issued the circular. He informed that all chief medical officers in the state have been asked to ensure people get the information about the decision and there is no confusion among the masses.

We are taking the decision to avoid gathering that happens during immunization centres since coronavirus spread check has a important point of avoiding gathering.

We do not want any gathering even for immunisation. Delay will not make any different the DG said. Routine immunization exercise will restart once government removes restrictions upon movement. The decision is for all rural and urban centres. Whether PHC or CHC or any hospital, bal mahila chikitsalaya.

The state government has announced lockdown in all Uttar Pradesh districts till March 27 hence people will not be allowed to move anywhere. Even if restrictions are removed the vaccination shall begin in April. A review of the decision to delay immunization shall be done if the restrictions are lifted earlier.
