The expectations for a easy in lockdown in UK will have to wait till June 1 as the lockdown there has been extended. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a televised address a few hours before the easy was about to come to impact said, this is not the time simply to end the lockdown this week.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday, unveiled cautious plans to lift restrictions imposed seven weeks ago. He added that some primary school children could return and shops re-open from June 1.
Johnson said some public places could re-open from July 1 but warned air passengers travelling to Britain faced quarantine measures. The government apparently has come under pressure to outline its exit strategy from the lockdown. The country has had 32,000 deaths in the outbreak which is the second-worst cumulative death toll after United States.
Despite passing the peak of the outbreak, Johnson said it would be madness to waste the sacrifices the public had made till now in the 7-weeks. A conditional plan would be outlined in parliament on Monday. It is a five-phase Covid Alert Level similar to the system in place for security threats, with one the lowest and five the highest.
Easing of lockdown is the latest phenomenon across the countries and each one of them is planning it in their own way depending upon the circumstances and number of fresh cases.
At present schools, offices, shopping complexes all are shut and people are working from home. Many cities have police cordons and only those with valid reason are allowed to move.
After about a 7-week of lockdown in the UK, Prime Minister Boris Johnson was set to bring in the next phase of the country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic – easing the lockdown with extreme caution. But people there will have to wait a little more.
