Coronavirus: First case in Lucknow

A woman from Canada has tested positive for corona virus in Lucknow that makes the total number of cases in Uttar Pradesh to 10 till now.

The woman, who is a doctor herself felt uneasy and hence came for check up. The doctors at the KGMU took samples and she tested positive. At present she is admitted to hospital and quarantined.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic. It has spread to at least 114 countries around the world. We have called every day for countries to take urgent and aggressive action, the WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.

Meanwhile, health department in Uttar Pradesh appeals to all citizens of the state or foreign guests staying in Uttar Pradesh at present, who have returned after visiting South Korea, Italy, or Islamic Republic of Iran on or after 22nd of February, to call state helpline number 1800 180 5 145 or contact Chief Medical Officers of the District to keep themselves and their families and Society safe and protected from Coronavirus.

Till date, 3253 travelers from corona affected countries have been identified and tracked by District Surveillance Units and all have been placed under surveillance. 739 travelers are being tracked today are under home isolation, 1 is admitted at Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi.

528 contacts of various positive cases at Delhi, Ghaziabad and Agra are also in fine health, , 8 of them are admitted at Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi, condition of all of them is stable. 1961 travelers have completed 28 days of observation after coming back from China.

State has cross-notified 552 travelers to other States within India and details of 26 travelers have been shared with NCDC, GOI for International Cross-notification.

In Uttar Pradesh 10 cases have come up with 7 from Agra, one each from Gaziabad, NOIDA and Lucknow.
