Lucknow: Sensing coronavirus might spread some more trouble the health department is seeking help from various department and now even cops have been roped in.
The health department is sharing details of those tourists notified by the central government as travelers who came to Uttar Pradesh but could not be traced further by the health department. The fresh list of 20 people had come to Lucknow from the union ministry recently.
The number of such travelers is increasing every day hence we need support of the police department to track such travelers. The health department does not has many staff for tracking neither the health staff is trained for tracking, said a senior health official.
These travelers were not found on the address they gave at the airports they reached first after coming to India. Cops are trying to find them and some of them have been traced, said a senior health official.
The health department needs to track them for 28 days since their arrival and if they show no symptoms they will not be tracked further. But it is significant to track them and keep information about their health for 28 days.
Uttar Pradesh has prepared 820 isolation beds at hospitals across the state and 2915 travellers from corona affected countries have been identified and tracked by the district surveillance units till now. Sensing trouble might expand the health department deployed nodal officers for coronavirus in 11 districts — Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Kushinagar, Bareilly, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Basti and Bulandshahr. IN all 708 passengers are in home isolation in Uttar Pradesh.
Screening has also been increased in the state. A group of Italian tourists was checked for coronavirus symptoms in Mirzapur and were then brought to Varanasi. With no symptoms found they were allowed to travel further. Earlier 14 Italians have tested positive. They were on tour and had reached Agra from Jaipur. Presently they are in ITBP isolation facility in New Delhi.
