LUCKNOW: After farmers the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh has aimed to connect with the youth, on the issue of unemployment.
On Tuesday the party’s youth wing Youth Congress launched National Register of Unemployed (NRU) formally launched campaign along with the Young India Ke Bol (YIKB) programme – both targeting youth on the issues of unemployment. NRU is a missed call based programme where youths are being asked to give a missed call on the mobile number if they are unemployed.
In the NRU campaign unemployed youths need to give a missed call on the number 8151994411. Uttar Pradesh now ranks third in the country with the number of unemployed youths and in the rise in unemployment it ranks first in the country among other states, said.
The YIKB is a speech competition where youths will be given chance to speak on the issue of unemployment first at district level in the entire state and then at state level in Lucknow. Five best speakers from each district will be called for state level competition and then state representatives will be selected, who will speak at national level.
The campaign already running will continue till February 28 and once registration is complete we shall start state level speech competition. The programme will come to its end on March 23 in New Delhi, Suveg Rathi, the in charge of the campaign for Uttar Pradesh.
The posters for both the campaigns were launched at Youth Congress office. The posters had slogans such as ‘Degree hai naukri nahi’ and ‘Meri naukri kahan hain’ with pictures of youth on it.
Government, they said, was reducing jobs instead of creating more. Congress has already conducted a campaign amongst farmers of the state and its workers reached out to farmers with a form to be filled who are not satisfied with the policies of the state government. The target is to come in touch of 1.5 crore farmers in the state and similarly the party wants to reach out to a large number of youths who are not satisfied with the policies of the state government.
Party has chalked out a strategy for the youth wing to reach out to youths in different parts of the state and by February 28 they wish to touch each district. Clubbing together the number of farmers and youth irked with the state government Congress is looking at them as a strong force in the coming elections.
