Huma Abedin, a former close aide to Hillary Clinton has reportedly written in a new memoir how she was sexually assaulted. She pointed towards a US senator.
Huma Abedin said the unnamed politician pounced on her on a couch in the mid-2000s when she reached in his room, according to news reports. Abedin, did not reveal the senator’s identity or even name of the party.
Abedin says that after a Washington dinner she walked out with the politician and when they stopped in front of his home he invited her inside for coffee which she accepted.
Huma Mahmood Abedin is a 1976 born American political staffer who was vice chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign for president of the United States. Earlier Abedin was deputy chief of staff to Clinton, who was US Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013. She was also the traveling chief of staff and former assistant for Clinton during Clinton’s campaign for the Democratic nomination in the 2008 presidential election.
During Hillary Clinton’s tenure at the State Department and her presidential campaign, Abedin became one of Clinton’s closest aides. Her high-profile political career has led her personal life to come under public scrutiny over the years, particularly her marriage to former congressman Anthony Weiner.
In her reported allegation Abedin says she rebuffed him as he tried to kiss her and escaped. The claim is detailed in her new book, Both/And: A Life in Many Worlds, which shall be published next week.

Abedin was one of 2016 Democratic presidential nominee and former Obama-era secretary of state Clinton’s most trusted aides, and was once described by her as her second daughter. She describes the sexual assault while recounting her work for Clinton when she was a US senator for New York between 2001-09.
She also details in the book her anger at her ex-husband, former Democratic New York congressman Anthony Weiner, whose career was destroyed by sex scandals.
