Bihar elections and tainted names

Jubilee News Desk

It is a long said phrase that in politician all is attempted for success and in Bihar elections this seems to be happening. All the parties are putting thought upon selection of candidates and the only objective is to give ticket to someone “who can win.” For this even if the candidate has a criminal history it does not matter.

In Bihar it is only Congress that has made announcement that it wont give ticket to those names in crime against women but other parties have no objection to it. Whether RJD or JDU all have made such candidates. According to the election commission RJD has made its candidates’ criminal history public and there are 38 of them.

RJD has also stated that these are the most eligible candidates while giving reason for giving tickets to them. The party said these candidates are popular in their respective areas. In comparison to other names win-ability of these candidates is more. Therefore the party has chosen them.

Lalu Yadav’s party has chosen many names who have murder charges, fraud, extortion etc. The list has names of Anant Singh, Rahul Tiwari, Surendra Yadav, Vijay Prakash. In the list of tainted candidates in RJD Kiran Devi, Prahlad Yadav, Ramdev Yadav, Rahul Tiwari, Shambhunath Yadav and Rekha Devi.

Sudhakar Singh from Ramgarh, Uday Narayan Chaudhary from Imamganj, Dabloo Singh from Nabinagar, Vijay Kumar from Shekhpura, Shakti Singh from Hilsa. The election commission had directed all parties to make names of candidates with criminal record public and hence RJD has done the same.

According to a latest report of the ADR Election Watch all parties in Bihar have criminals. An analysis from 2005 to 2019 revealed RJD has maximum criminal names given the ticket. While JDU has got maximum tainted names who could win election.

BJP is on number two position. But Congress, BSP, LJP, and left parties are not far behind. The report says only 5% candidates with clean image have won elections against 15% of the tainted ones.
