It is believed that civilizations have developed on the banks of rivers. But our rivers was effected badly by the new concept of development.
On one hand the rivers are being polluted and on the other hand many rivers are on the verge of extinction or have become extinct. In such a situation, Parmarth Samaj Sevi Sansthan and Nadi Ghati Sangathan of Bundelkhand have joined hand for a project to save the rivers.
After a continuous effort of 4 years, River Valley Organization, Bachhedi River was included in this project for its revival. The Villagers focused on their fully targeted efforts with a hope that this river must have water for the whole 12 months.
Bachhedi river flows 15 km from west to east in Badamlehra development block of Chhatarpur district. The river passes through 12 villages from the source of in Chhiwala, on the way it is joined by ponds and small drains coming from the local hills.
The work started 4 years ago from Hirapur Pond and Sevar Gulai Tigda Pond. The river passes through Samaria village and Agarotha Dam which is the main groundwater recharge source and also recharges the river. Finally this river joins Dhasan river.
Nadi Ghati Sangathan was formed by Parmarth Samaj Sevi Sansthan 4 years ago for the revival of this river, since then the work of reviving this river is being done by the organization itself and with the help of government and administration. . First, the water warriors and water friends themselves walked through the river and volunteered for silt cleaning and tree plantation, then with the help of the government, structures were built.
There were already some structures in the river which were damaged, for which Parmarth Samajsevi Sansthan in collaboration with the Nadi Ghati Sangathan worked to repair them. Today rain water is being collected in every structures.

Jagat Lodhi of Bhelda village says that 4 to 5 villages will be benefited through this river, about 500 acres of land in the nearby villages will be irrigated. Ground water recharge has increased. After the rain water entered the river, the water in the nearby wells has increased by more than 1 meter.
