Lucknow: On Tuesday Home Minister Amit Shah came to address a rally in support of the Citizenship Act in Lucknow where he stroked at the protesters said that government will not step back from its position.
“I want to say that the government will not step back from CAA. Those who wants to protest may continue doing so,” said the energetic politician.
Amit Shah was here as apart of the party’s Jan Jagran Abhiyan talked about the Citizenship Act to people telling them what the government is expecting from them and what the opposition is doing. “The opposition is causing unrest in the country. I have to come to you for the Jan Jagran Abhiyan in Lucknow. Our government is hardly 8 months old we are this campaign to dispel the falsities being spread by the opposition against the CAA. He even challenged the opposition by saying, “I challenge this Rahul Gandhi, Mamta Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav to engage in debate on CAA.
There has been an all-women protest is happening since 5 days at Lucknow’s, Clock Tower against the CAA,NRC calling it unconstitutional. Protests at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi have been going on since 44 days now making it the longest continuous non-violent protest against the CAA-NRC. Both the protests were seen supporting the violence inside Jawaharlal Nehru College in which many left students were injured after ABVP a students group lead by the Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP attacked several Left group students and teachers inside the campus with sticks over the free-hike protests. The opposition has been blamed of playing the game from behind using the public as pawns for the countrywide protests.
The BJP has been very concerned about the issue and is being blamed of using police as pawns by the protesters. On Friday the Thakurganj police detained people distributing blankets to the protesters at the Clock Tower and snatching food supply as seen in a video. But the protesters didn’t leave the site and continued to protest peacefully.
“ The CAA is not intended to take away the citizenship of anyone as the bill proposes to grant citizenship to prosecuted minorities of three neighboring countries. The bill grants citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Christians facing persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and came to India before 31 December 2014 or after,” he said.
“JNU mein desh vidhrohi naare alge. Mujhe batao jo Bharat Mata ke 1000 tukde karne ki baat kare use jail main daalna chahiye ya nahi? Bharat Mata ke khilaaf is desh mein naare lage to jail ki salakhon ke peeche daal dunga. (Anti-national slogans were chanted in JNU. Those who chant that Baharat should be broken into a thousand pieces, should be put in jail or not? If you chant slogans against Bharat Mata, I will put you behind bars),” he explained.
Just a day before the grand rally hosted by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Lucknow, the two daughters of Urdu poet Munawwar Rana, Sumaiyya Rana and Faujia Rana among 18 other people were booked for misbehaving with women constables present at the demonstrations on Friday. The police was accused of ‘snatching the blankets’ from the protesters and detaining people for distributing them to which their daughters acted.
The police in response said that they were just responding to the situation as it could have disrupted the protest as people who were not part of the protests were taking away more blankets than the protesters sitting there by taking away the all blankets and one distributing it. Also, Tinda Yadav daughter of SP leader Akhilesh Yadav was also seen at the Clock Tower on Monday afternoon while a picture of is doing rounds on social media just a day after.
