India on Thursday opened covid vaccination for all aged above 45-years and this is expected to give a push to vaccination drive in the country that has vaccinated over 6 crore of its people.

According to the health department, advance appointments for vaccination can be booked through cowinportal, or one can visit their nearest vaccination centre to avail on-site registration facility.

“From April 1 all people above 45 years of age are eligible for vaccination. Advance appointments can be booked through or you can go to your nearest vaccination center with age and ID proof,” said health officials.

IN Uttar Pradesh the covid vaccination drive will be given push with the help of health and wellness centres apart from the other government and private health facilities vaccinating people. Medicalm colleges, district hospitals and community health centres along with private hospitals are vaccinating six days a week and primary health centres three days a week. Now health and wellness centres will also vaccinate to give more options to people to choose vaccination centre.

The countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 with two vaccines – Covishield and Covaxin. The government has said both vaccines are safe. The central government had earlier said that the two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be given at an interval of 28 days. The second dose of Covishield can be given up to eight weeks now after the first dose. However, the increased interval does not apply to Covaxin.
