“After family members tested covid positive I am isolating myself and avoiding public events for three-days,” Akhilesh wrote on the micro-blogging site. He further wrote, “My best wishes for the Iglas rally and the party workers should remain active with full zeal.”
The rally was at Iglas in Aligarh and SP and Rashtriya Lok Dal had jointly called the rally. Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav had tested positive for covid a day before and she had appealed to all those who met her in recent to get themselves tested. Yadav’s daughter had first tested positive for covid and later Dimple.
Akhilesh has been extensively campaigning for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections slated early next year and was on Samajwadi Vijaya Yatra for the past few days.
IN 2017 assembly elections a total 86728324 votes were polled and 5256 candidates contested upon 403 seats. Congress got 7 seats with a vote share of 6.2%, while the BJP had won 312 seats with a vote share of 39.7%, BSP 19 seats with 22.2% vote share and Samajwadi Party 47 seats and a 21.8%vote share, Rashtriya Lok Dal got one seat and 1.78% vote share, Apna dal won 9 seats and 1% vore share, the NISHAD party got one seat and 0.6% vote share, Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party had won 4 seats and 0.7% vore share, while independent candidates won on 3 seats and their vote share was 2.6%. A total 0.9% NOTA votes were also polled.
