Ajit Pwar sworn in as new deputy chief minister, Aditya Thakeray has high hopes as he joins Cabinet today!

 

 

Ajit Pawar has been sworn in as Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister on Monday as part of Shive Sena-NCP-Congress coalition government in the state while chief minister Uddhav Thakeray finally expanded his cabinet to form a new Cabinet.

Aajit Pawar has been shifted in the post for the second time in two months. He first said to have orchestrated a coup with the NCP, joining hands with BJP and taking oath as the deputy for Devendra Fadnavis only last month. The government lasted only for 80 hours after which he returned to the Sharad Pawar-led government.

 

Last month when NCP leader Sharad Pawar refused to that Ajit would become the deputy CM in the Shiv-Sena-Congress government also known as Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi.

Ajit was quoted as saying, “It was not a revolt. I was the leader of NCP. Did NCP remove me? Did you read (about my removal from NCP) somewhere? I have been telling all that I was in the NCP, I am in NCP and will be in NCP.”

Ministers taking oath

Aditya Thackeray will be the first from his family to taste electoral success. The new environment or higher education ministry. Former chief inister Ashok Chawan, NCP leader Dilip Walse Patil and Dhananjay Munde and Congress’ Vijay Wadettiwar will also take oath on Monday.

The Uddhav Thakeray cabinet has six ministers beside the chief minister.

On November 28, head of Mahargatra Pradseh Congress Committee Balashaeb Thorat along with Nitin Raut of the Congress, Eknath Shinde and Subhash Desai of the Shiv Sena and Jayant Patil and Chhagan Bhujbal of t he NCP took  the oath.

 

BJP and Shiv Sena fought the assembly elections by winning a majority of 105 and 56 seats, respectively in the 288 member Maharashtra Assembly. With in 24 hours of their win Sena broke its three-decade long ties with the BJP after the BJP declined to share the chief minister’s post. Later, Sena joined with NCP and Congress to form a government headed by Uddhav Thakeray.

He took oath as the new CM on the same day.

The Shiv-Sena would have 16 ministers (apart from chief minister), NCP 24 and Congress has 12 making it their power-sharing formula.
