In what could be seen as a sign of relief more patients recovered in the past 24-hours in India than those who tested positive.
According to the union health ministry on Saturday India reported 95,000 people as recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours while 93,337 new cases of coronavirus were tested positive.
The country, which is the second worst-hit by the pandemic, recorded 93,337 new infections in 24-hour taking the tally cross 53-lakh mark. The number of people who were cured of the viral disease in the same duration was 95,880 with a recovery rate of 79.28%. More 42-lakh people in the country have recovered from COVID-19 till now. The number of total cases in the country now is 53,08,014.
In the last 24 hours, India reported 1,247 deaths taking the number of Covid deaths to 85,619. With 10,13,964 lakh people currently receiving treatment for COVID-19, the percentage of active cases in India has decreased to 19.10 per cent.

The home ministry, has said that medical oxygen is an essential public health commodity and any disruption in its supplies may critically impact management of Covid-19 patients as it stressed that no restriction be imposed on its movement between the states. It also clarified that there are no restrictions on oxygen manufacturers and suppliers to limit the supply only to the hospitals of the state in which they are located.
