Munawwar Ranas daughters booked for misbhaving with women constables at Clock Tower

Lucknow: Amid the on going protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) the police have lodged an FIR against 16 women including two daughter of poet Munawwar Rana and 16 other women in Lucknow on Monday. It has been four days since the all women protest started at the famous Clock Tower that has now become a problem for the Uttar Pradesh police after it attracted Child Rights Activists now.

There has been news about the protest that it women attending the demonstrations are bringing their children with them. They were seen holding playcards that goes against the CAA,NRC. It is said that the child rights panels is very much sure that it violates the rights of a minor if they take part in the demonstrations.

Sumaiya Rana and Faujia Rana the two daughters of poet Munawwar Rana along were booked under the Section 188 (disobeying government order) by misbehaving with a women constable and sections 333 for deterring public servant from performing duties. The FIR made by the police for violating section 144 of the Cr PC against 24 identified persons including 16 women and 100 unidentified person. There has been another protest happening at Ujjariyao in Gomti Nagar area where around 15 women performed a sit-in protest.

On late night Friday police locked all washrooms near the area after taking away blanked from the protesters and detained some people fro distributing free blankets to the demonstrators. The blanket distribution at the area attracted several people that were not part of the protest to which the police reacted.

A video of the incident was also released where police personnel’s were seen taking away blankets and food supply away from the protesters. A women protester was also seen shouting ‘police’ to which the police have not reacted by now.

However the protesters continued to sit-in despite of the freezing weather at the Clock Tower. The person distributing the blanket’s named, Saleem was released on Sunday morning.

Home Minister Amit Saha will be holding a rally in Lucknow in support of the citizenship law on Tuesday.

It is said that two person identified as Nasreen Jawed and Laiq Hasan instigated the people on Friday after arriving at the site. They were booked under Section 505B statement conducting mischief among the public and 188 of IPC. The State Commission for protection of Child Rights has been monitoring the protests where children are seen holding placards that had anti CAA slogans written on it.

“We received reports that some children were present at the protest site. Also women were seen with children in their lap in the demonstration. Children were seen shouting anti CAA,NRC slogans and statements which is a violation of Juvenile Justice Act”, Sushshitra Chaturvedi, a member of the commission said.

The Director General of police (DGP) was informed about the matter and told to look into the matter.
