The recently concluded series between India and England showed that test cricket still has a great liking amongst the cricket loving people. The huge public which thronged the stadiums in all the five matches clearly shows that test cricket is still popular amongst the cricket lovers . What to talk about the Oval test even the entire series will be remembered by the cricket lovers for decades.
Basically I believe test cricket is the real cricket.The calibre of a player can only be judged by his performance in test cricket .The class and the potential of a player comes out only in test cricket.
It is very painful that most of the top class cricketers do not want to play test cricket these days . They are only interested in making quick money in 20-20 Cricket.
Yes money also plays a very important role in everyone’s life but I believe test cricket also give sufficient money to enjoy the entire life.
There is no doubt that IPL gives a lot of money in a very short span of time but a player’s life is also very short in this Bang Bang game.
The performance of a player in IPL is very short lived in the memory of of a cricket loving enthusiast whereas performance or even non performance of a particular player is always remembered by a cricket lover .
IPL is like today’s singers whereas Test cricket is like songs of Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar , Kishore Kumar and many more great singers.
Similarly the quantum of joy one gets in test cricket it is simply missing in IPL. I feel pity on those players who have left playing test cricket for the sake of money and now totally concentrating on IPL. They have simply preferred in making quick money instead of earning their name and fame in the longer version of the game.
Okay you enjoy hitting sixes and cross batted shots for the sake of money and let us allow us to enjoy a flowing cover drive and a beautiful outswinger in Test cricket.
