Jubilee News Desk

Where a qualified doctor should be posted and in their absence a trained/qualified paramedical should attend patient, the job was handed over to a 11 standard student and several other paramedical students at a private hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow.

As health officials conducted raid upon hospital more surprises were awaiting for them. The hospital records showed haemoglobin of a patient went up from 7.5 to 16 with just two units of blood transfusion by the hospital staff.

How this was made possible we shall inquire separately and check the pathology also that gave such a report, said Dr AP Singh, the nodal officer for hospital registration at the office of chief medical officer of Lucknow.

How can a student reading in 11th standard work as employee in a hospital. Also we found majority hospital staff were student in some or the other medical/paramedical courses which is not a regular practice for hospitals.

Dr Singh went with a team to inspect the hospital. The inspection was carried out following a complaint with the IGRS portal in connection with the hospital. The hospital owner was present during inspection.

Notice was served to owner of the hospital and was asked to file a reply within 12-hours, failing which action will be initiated by the health department in Lucknow.

Those who were working at the hospital were being given wages @Rs 3000 up to Rs 5000, per month, said the health officials. A qualified paramedical staff at least gets about Rs 1000 per month for fulltime duty or even more in private sector hospitals.
