OnePlus cofounder Carl Pei quit the company to start a new sound audio named ‘Nothing’. While ‘Nothing’ had previously raised $7 million seed fund last December, the organization has now gotten a $15 million Series A funding from Alphabet’s investment arm GV–also known as Google Ventures.

With the new financing round, Nothing has raised more than $22 million from financial investors. The past $7million round incorporates striking early financial investors, for example, Tony Fadell (the inventor of the iPod), YouTuber Casey Neistat, Twitch prime supporter Kevin Lin, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, and Product Hunt CEO Josh Buckley, among others.

Pei’s vision for smart devices is compelling. We have high confidence that with Carl’s global mindset, the Nothing team will have a meaningful impact on the market for consumer technology, “said Tom Hulme, General Partner at GV in a statement.

As per a Bloomberg report, the company is as of now working upon a pair of wireless earbuds and a scope of smart connected consumer gadgets. The organization has plans to dispatch the main item this late spring and different items later in the year.

We’re constructing an ecosystem of smart gadgets. We’ll begin with less complex items, wireless earbuds. We will have different items consistently, not simply audio products, and at last we need to fabricate it so these gadgets converse with one another,” Pei was cited as saying by Bloomberg.

In the interim, there’s no data on which market segment Nothing will zero in on in the wireless earbuds portion. At the top, we have strong contributions like Sony’s WF-1000XM3 and Apple’s AirPods Pro. It will be fascinating to check whether Nothing is intending to dispatch premium wireless earbuds equipped for taking on the lies of AirPods Pro or is more disposed towards catching the section level/mid-range wireless earbuds market.
