ISRO shifts Chandrayaan-3 mission to next year, 25 more projects in line

ISRO chairman K Sivan in press conference on Wednesday said that the third lunar mission of Cahngrayaan-3 may shift to next year. Just a day after Minister of State Department of Space, Jitendra Sing announced of its launch in 2020.

“India is going to land its Moon Mission in April. This is going to be a world event”.

As part of the project, the activities related to third lunar mission were going smoothly for Cahndrayan-3. It will also have a lander, rover and a propulsion module like its predecessor, ISRO chairman K Sivan said in a statement at the press conference.

Talking about the cost of the project, Sivan said, “The mission would cost Rs 250 crore.” The project launch has been shifted for next year, he said.

“There will be several tests that we’ll do this year. Also, the final four astronauts-elected have been selected and they will begin  training in Russia from third week of January.”

He later said that the first unmanned flight for Ganganyaan will be next year. He even said that these ‘big projects’ can hamper other missions as ISRO has been planning to launch other 25 projects.  “We are looking at more than 25 missions this year.”
