2501 Uttar Pradesh residents in Ukraine

Since the war began, in all 2501 Uttar Pradesh residents were stuck in Ukraine and till now 227 have returned back home. According to the information shared by the relief commission Uttar Pradesh office a total 2501 people/students from Uttar Pradesh were in Ukraine. Of them 227 students have returned back safely to their homes.

Data of 2501 people/students was shared with ministry of external affairs to bring them back safe to India from Ukraine and 227 students have returned back and they have been facilitated transport till their home, said the relief commissioner office in a press statement.

Ranvir Prasad, the relief commissioner also said that several students might have reached back home with their parents but data for such students is not available.

According to the details out of 151 students from Lucknow 22 have returned, similarly 10 out of 66 have returned in Varanasi, 3 out of 60 in Prayagraj, 10 out of 73 in Gorakhpur, 4 out of 75 in Agra have returned back. IN all 73 students came back to UP via flight on March 2 and more were on way.

Some of the students are in process to cross border and several others in Romania and about to catch flight to New Delhi.Significantly, due to the Russian attack, thousands of Indians, especially students, have been trapped in Ukraine. The biggest challenge before the government is to rescue the stranded Indians, for which all efforts are being made.

India has sent government teams through the borders of Hungary and Poland to rescue its citizens trapped in Ukraine that has closed its airspace for commercial flights after Russia declared an attack and targeted major cities.

“It is tough and cold here. We have crossed border and are in flight to New Delhi,” said Amulya Yaduvanshi, just before her flight took off for India.

Up to 15,000 people are currely hiding from bombs in the Kyiv metro. According to Viktor Brahinsky, head of the Kyiv metro, the underground can host up to 100,000 people. The stations have water, bathrooms, food, and medicine at their disposal.
