Tiger Woods injured but ‘Awake’

Tiger Woods the American professional golfer has met an accident and has undergone surgery. He sustained serious injuries in the leg as his car met an accident in Los Angeles.

The 15-time golf major champion, 45, had to be “extricated from the wreck” by firefighters and paramedics. A statement on his Twitter account said he had suffered significant orthopaedic injuries to his lower right leg and ankle. “He [Woods] is currently awake, responsive and recovering in his hospital room,” added the statement.

The accident occurred on a steep stretch of road known as the hotspot for high-speed accidents. Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods is tied for first in PGA Tour wins, ranks second in men’s major championships, and holds numerous golf records. Woods is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers and has fans across the globe who are concerned about his health.

Former US president Donald Trump, urged Woods to “get better and get out there because we all miss him.” Woods was one of the most revered athletes in the world when he became engulfed in scandal in late 2009.

Back then, he smashed his car into a tree and a fire hydrant outside his luxury Florida home, sparking a series of scandalous revelations that doomed his marriage and put his game in freefall. Woods underwent four back surgeries between 2014 and 2017.
