After the brutal murder of BJP politician Kamlesh Tewari at his residence in Lucknow many saints from the party have expressed the threat for their lives. While, some are talking about real life threats while others are looking for befits after his demise. It has now, become a challenge before the government as to whom should they give the security. Bahgpat MLA Sadhvi Prachi who is also a member of the VHP has demanded security form the government stating that she had been getting death threats on social media continuously.
Another case from Guriganj of Amethi district has come to light where Peethadheer of the Sagra Ashram Mauni ji Maharaj is troubled with death threats. Abhay Chaitanya who has recently been stripped off of the security provided by the government for which he says was, ‘taken away without any prior notice’ from the government. He also claims to have been attacked several times and now feels the threat for his, yet again.
After the murder of Kamlesh Tewari, a Surat connection in the case was found, which now has linked itself to Nagpur, accordin to the state police. The Maharshtra ATS have arrested a, Saiyyad Ali, under suspicion who was in touch with the assailants. Two Maulana’s from Bijnor, who in 2015 announced a bounty on the head of the slain VHP MLA Kamlesh Tewari, have not been given clean chit in the 2015 case. Now, UP police has announced a reward of Rs.2.5 lakh on the assailants of Kamlesh Tiwari after the names and identity was the assailants were exposed. They have been out of reach from the police which show that someone has given them shelter to keep them away from being arrested.
Now the government has to take a deep dive to find out ‘Who is getting how many threats?’. This will become a major problem as to whom should they get 4 or 24 constables while the security remains under control. There has also been a trend of asking for gunners and not just normal security personnel which in reality becomes a huge let down when they are asked bring food from the market of other unofficial and inappropriate tasks. They are treated as every other servant which needs to observed so that they can not be treated as another status symbol. The government needs to rise above the party line and take adequate steps for the security of saints.
